Panton Chair
The Panton Chair is a classic and design icon in furniture history. Verner Panton designed the chair in 1960 and developed it together with Vitra until it was ready for series production (1967). It was the first all-plastic chair made in one piece. Since its introduction, it has gone through several production phases.
The cantilever technique, combined with the body-hugging shape and the slightly flexible material, makes the chair very comfortable. It can be used individually or in groups indoors and outdoors. The Panton Chair has won design awards all over the world and is in the collections of many important museums. Its expressive form makes it an icon of 20th century design.
The chair I am offering is one of the third series (1971-1979) made of the already colored thermoplastic polystyrene (Luran S). The chairs made of this material are clearly recognizable by the ribs below the kink between the seat and the train and originate from the 6/1971 Fehlbaum production (Willi Fehlbaum was the founder of VITRA). The chair is in excellent, undamaged condition (with slight signs of wear) and is likely to be rarely offered in this condition, especially in black.
