Product description
Panton chair black,
Herman Miller / Fehlbaum
Production 5/1975
Design by Verner Panton in 1960
The Panton Chair is a classic and design icon in furniture history. Verner Panton designed the chair in 1960 and developed it together with Vitra until it was ready for series production (1967). It was the first all-plastic chair made from one piece. Since its introduction, it has gone through several production phases.
The technology of the cantilever in connection with the anatomical shape and the slightly flexible material gives the chair a good level of comfort. It can be used individually or in groups indoors and outdoors. The Panton Chair has received design awards worldwide and is in numerous collections of important museums. Its expressive shape makes it an icon of 20th-century design.
The chair I am offering is one of the third series (1971-1979) made of the already colored thermoplastic polysterol (Luran S). The chairs made of this material are clearly recognizable by the ribs below the crease between the seat and train and come from the 5/1975 Fehlbaum production (Willi Fehlbaum was the founder of VITRA). The chair is in excellent, undamaged condition (with slight signs of wear) and will rarely be offered in this condition, especially in black.
