Vandel quickly won over design enthusiasts with original creations featuring clean lines. The "Vertèbre" chair (1972) is an emblematic piece of 20th-century design. It is a testament to his talent and creativity. Pierre Vandel was born in Roubaix, France, in 1939. He obtained a CAP (vocational training certificate) in industrial design and fitter. He then joined the Ponts et Chaussées design office and studied at the CNAM (Arts et Métiers). Brimming with ideas, he tested several projects at home, including a vertical aquarium. He also designs hi-fi furniture, side tables and lighting fixtures.... Vandel is a true enthusiast! In 1969, Vandel found his distributor: Marais International. They placed an order for 5,000 pieces. He set up his own workshop, then made a decisive encounter: he befriended the famous Pierre Cardin. Cardin helped him found his Pierre Vandel-Paris brand. Vandel's work is sold all over the world, from Paris and New York to London, Melbourne and Tokyo! This success earned him 2 export Oscars from the French Ministry of Industry.
