In 1969, Van Der Sluis founded his own office furniture company in Drachten, the Netherlands, which quickly became a European market leader. He designed numerous models of chairs, desks and storage cabinets that were mass-produced for use in offices and public spaces. Van Der Sluis's style was simple and functional, with particular attention paid to ergonomics and the use of durable materials. His designs were often characterized by clean lines, simple geometric shapes and a limited color palette. Over the years, Van Der Sluis won several awards for his innovative designs, including the Dutch Industrial Design Award in 1973 and the Design Award of the Province of Groningen in 1985. His creations have been exhibited in museums and galleries around the world, and his legacy as an influential office furniture designer continues to inspire designers today.
