Biography of the artist : Yves Lohé was born on March 5, 1947 in a village in northern France. As a child, Yves Lohé was a dreamy boy, a loner; happiest when he was close to nature. When he had become a young man, he expressed his thoughts in poetry and drama; he considered devoting himself to a career as an author. He later studied law, then changed paths to focus on teaching. But eventually, Yves Lohé will realize that only in the artistic field of sculpture can he truly express himself through a three-dimensional form. He then becomes passionate about this expressive discipline that is sculpture. In 1972, he studied with Abel Bataillard, the famous "wrought iron master of Pigalle." Five years later, Lohé resigned as a teacher to devote himself exclusively to sculpture using iron as a material. With this first iron sculpture, Yves Lohé became known; soon, pieces by Lohé were exhibited in Parisian exhibitions, including at the famous Salon des Indépendants in Paris. Under the title "Iron Hands," he created some eighty hand sculptures; later he concentrated on the whole human body in a series of slender figures borrowed from dance and the everyday body positions of city dwellers. Little by little, Lohé's sculptural forms took softer forms. At the same time, he created larger pieces, public works for cities in northern and eastern France. In 1979, Lohé became interested in bronze work; he built his workshop, 2nd Fire Art, in which he would henceforth concentrate on working with this material. Then, in 1991, inspired by a meeting with Werner Manesse, master glassmaker, Lohé's vision also developed on the transparency and color of glass. Manesse taught him to see the "alphabet" of glass, the infinite combinations of light and colors that inspire him; he discovered new possibilities of expression and then decided to use this new material that allowed him to give his bronze sculptures a new poetry by mixing bronze and colored glass in the interaction of color and light. Today, Yves Lohé is also recognized and sought after by an American clientele that enjoys his works of art. (More than 320 sales results on Art Price's reference site).

Normal age-related discoloration of the patina, however, was recently thoroughly cleaned.
