Yang Na (杨纳; born Oct. 9, 1982) is a Chinese surrealist artist living in Beijing Yang was born in Chongqing and studied at the secondary high school of the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute (1998-2002). She studied oil painting at the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute (2002-06) and earned a Master of Arts from the same institution in 2010. In Yang Na's paintings, an imaginary ghost often appears with big eyes, long eyelashes and full, sexy lips. This glamorous girl is "Nana," an incarnation of Yang Na and a beautiful immortal spirit living in a virtual world. Yang Na transforms her virtualized self into symbols and the nonexistent imaginary world into concrete images that can be seen and felt. Yang Na paints her personal life experience on canvas in a mix of real and imagined language and ideas. Her works are dazzling but at the same time highly representational. Using a variety of honest but fake objects stacked on top of each other, she creates an illusionary but blurry image. Her works often include a giant Noah's Ark with a multitude of people and a wealth of information. Yang Na formalizes her own virtual self. The incredible face in the work expresses youth, innocence and pretense. And with a pair of wandering, intoxicating and enchanting eyes and a seductive, infatuated mouth, her artworks show the beauty of youth, which is rich in contradictions, heterogeneity and morbidity. She now lives and works in Beijing. In 2013 Yang Na presents under the title Hu'nimal the dream world of people with their desire to have disposal of the mysterious properties of animals. Her work highlights the spiritual unity between humans and animals in paintings, bronzes and installations.
