Xie Aige is a talented and famous young generation Chinese artist. Her studio is located in Shanghai. Her mostly bronze sculptures, which she colors in various shades, sometimes seem to be carved from natural stone. She uses subtle accents with which she allows her works to speak; with this she has gained a great reputation.
Xie Aige has a characteristic, minimalist style of sculpting that makes her sculptures appealing. With this recognizable style, she has become a well-known and established artist in international art circles.
Xie Aige was inspired by Tai Chi, an originally Chinese martial art, now mostly practiced as Neijia, inner movement art. Tai Chi is practiced for its health benefits and as a self-defense sport.
This sculpture is type 1 no. 50/100 and is from Xie Aige's Tai Chi White Series, The Art of Balance, consisting of 4 plastic (resin) sculptures in a familiar Tai Chi pose.
