Product description
Painting by Wigle Engelsma Oil on canvas 1999 130 cm by 115 cm With beautiful flawless list As new Wigle Engelsma Wyn, wetter and skipkes Education and career Wigle Engelsma, born in 1953 on board the skutsje “Frisia”, was initially trained in mechanical engineering. He then followed the Monumental design and Drawing and painting courses at the art academies Vredeman de Vries and Minerva. In recent years he has exhibited regularly at home and abroad. In his mostly colorful works, he takes the viewer to the sea, the harbors and the mudflats. His own work is characterized by tranquil mudflat landscapes with traditional ships falling dry, expressive views of the sky and mudflats, wooden and steel objects of humans and animals in characteristic poses. Sometimes in combination with other materials, such as stone, lead or stainless steel. Themes and methodPortrait Wigle Engelsma sails the Frisian Lakes, the Wadden Sea Region, the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. In his paintings and drawings he reflects the impressions he gains during the journeys with his sailing ship. These first impressions are recorded in quick sketches that he later elaborates in paintings and drawings with acrylic paint, pastel or conte. This is done not only on canvas, but also on nautical charts, old sailcloth, etc. Sometimes one can almost speak of an abstract design. Reality is of secondary importance. The image is mainly determined by the atmosphere and the expression. Purchases and orders During his career, Wigle Engelsma has received assignments from the municipalities of Skarsterlan, Tytsjerksteradeel, Nijefurd, Hengelo, Bergen op Zoom and Eindhoven and from the SBK Leeuwarden. His work can be found in corporate collections of, among others, Batavus Heerenveen, Technische Bureau Lasaulex Groningen, Angela Textiles BV Wijk en Aalburg, Lawyers Trip Leeuwarden, Hotel Opduin de Koog, Alexandra Zierikzee and the municipality of Sneek, as well as in private collections at home and abroad.
