Product description
The Walter Knoll 369 Armchair was designed by the Walter Knoll Team in 1956. At that time, the vast majority of the German furniture industry consisted of classic, solid furniture with a straightforward design. But Walter Knoll ushered in a new era with this soft and organically shaped chair. Around the same time, Charles and Ray Eames introduced their famous Eames Plastic Chair, like the 369 Armchair a modern bucket chair. In other words, the era of modern postwar furniture design had arrived. This was made possible in part by the invention of plastic, which made it possible to experiment with new forms and production techniques. Although the design of this armchair was innovative, the design was not a total break with the past. Thus, influences of Bauhaus, avant-garde and the Scandinavian design tradition can clearly be found in the armchair.
The seat is in very good condition, but on the right side the fabric is slightly discolored by the sun.
