Beautiful minimalist wall or ceiling lamp Model 232 designed by Bruno Gatta for Stilnovo, Italy 1954. The lamp has a black lacquered shade and black enameled stem and an ivory white wall-mounted shade and features original black screws. The large black shade diffuses a soft indirect light. The lamp is in good and original condition and has slight signs of use in accordance with its age.
Italian lighting manufacturer Stilnovo was founded in 1946 by designer Bruno Gatta in Lainate, an industrial suburb of Milan. After World War II, Italy was focused on rebuilding under conditions of scarcity. With Stilnovo, Bruno Gatta dedicated himself to the production of innovative lighting that embodied rationalist form-follows-function principles.
