Product description
The table, designed by the Eames couple in 1951, owes its name to its oval shape and steel wire base. This table is from 2020. ETR is an abbreviation for "Elliptical (E) Table (T) on a Rod (R) base". The ETR coffee table is a further development of the LTR table, which was released a year earlier. Just like the LTR, the ETR coffee table also has a low base. The table was soon nicknamed the "surfboard table" because the large elliptical shape, which sits low to the ground, is reminiscent of a surfboard. In the early 1950s, there was a demand for furniture that was not made of wood or looked like it was not made of wood. The ETR coffee table is also made of plywood, but the furniture does not look like wood due to the hard laminated top. Originally, the table was only available in black. Nowadays, a white version is also available. The base of the ETR coffee table consists of two low structures made of bent steel wires that are welded together with a chrome surface.
The side table is in very good condition and shows hardly any signs of use.
