Product description
Vintage table lamp by Rotaflex from the 1950s. This lamp has a tripod base in metal with a neck in brass. Rotaflex was founded in 1953 by Bernard Stern who ensured the company became one of Britain's leading manufacturers in just a few years. Rotaflex received several awards including the coveted iF Design Award in 1957. The type of plastic used to manufacture the lamp was invented by Rotaflex in collaboration with the French company A.R.P. - L' Atelier de Recherche Plastique. The A.R.P was founded in 1954 by Pierre Guariche, Michel Mortier & Joseph-André Motte and stopped barely 3 years later.
The lamp has signs of use typical of its age. For example, there are small particles of missing paint on the base (see photo). Also the shade has age spots which contributes to a nice patina.
