Product description
Amazing Sideboard, designed in the Art Deco spirit, attributed to the famous French Designer and Cabinet Maker Jules Leleu (1883-1961).
It opens on the top and on the front by a double flap revealing a remarkable interior in Sycamore lined with original Mercury mirrors. This space is composed of a recessed concave part and two small lateral drawers, embellished with Amaranth fillets. It is also equipped with brass Galleries, originally used as glass storage, which allow us to imagine a Bar function for this unclassifiable piece of furniture.
Underneath, this Buffet is made up of two doors with movements, inlaid with Losanges in various shades on a Rio Rosewood background. Floral motifs in mother-of-pearl and various woods also decorate these doors, which are underlined - just like the front flap - by two lemon tree fillets with sinuous lines forming frames. The interior of this lower part offers a central niche and, on either side, shelves decorated with friezes on their visible edges.
Two strong columns tapered downwards form the front jambs of this unusual piece of furniture. They are topped with brass rings and end in feet with plates of the same alloy.
The sides are flared at the back and the bottom rail is slightly curved.
The flap, as well as the doors, are lockable and the cabinet is supplied with an additional key.
This sumptuous sideboard is both unique and perfectly in tune with current trends. It has benefited from a prestigious design and unalterable precious woods, which were the materials of choice of Jules Leleu, as an expert in the fitting out of liners in the last century.
