Product description
PH5 suspension lamp by Poul Henningsen for Louis Poulsen. Presented in 1924 at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris under the name PH, it won the gold medal. However, dissatisfied with his first version, the Danish designer reworked his suspension and came up with a final version in 1958 with the common thread of a luminaire that couldn't dazzle its users, in response to incandescent bulb manufacturers who kept modifying their products. It took the name PH5, in reference to the diameter of its main shade.
Still produced for over 60 years and assembled in the same factory in Vejen, it has known a multitude of versions, from monochrome to pastel.
Its structure is composed of a main aluminum shade, providing soft, uniform light. Internal metal reflectors direct light downwards while reflecting part of it upwards, preventing glare. At the bottom of the shade is a cone, covering the light source and directing the light beam downwards.
In good condition, wear consistent with age and use.
Bulb reference: E27
