Exceptional mirror made with fragments of a baroque altarpiece. It is a quadrangular mirror to which two extraordinary fragments of symmetrical wood have been attached to each side, thus transforming them into a golden frame. These are two pieces of great artistic quality, carved in wood. Acanthus leaves, scrolls and two venerated forms are presented that powerfully capture attention, typical forms of the 18th century that draw on the classical influence of Corinthian capitals. The artistic quality lies not only in the carving but also in the gilding, made with gold leaf, on a bowl and white lead, and burnished with agate stone. The baroque altarpiece with its color and gilding - an operation in which high carat gold leaf was used - was illuminated by the dim light of the candles, glowing like an ember in the darkness of the temples, insinuating itself into the public's view. like a celestial apparition.
The result is a very original mirror, never seen before. Decorative object in itself, full of artistic and historical value. It can be posed in the opposite direction and also horizontally. Due to its large dimensions, it is recommended to transport it in a custom-made wooden box borne by the buyer.
