Product description
Beautiful and very comfortable armchair by Kembo, designed by Willem Gispen in 1952
This sophisticated armchair is a perfect example of Dutch design, made by the well-known brand Kembo and designed by the legendary Willem Gispen in the early 1950s.
The frame of the chair is made of anthracite powder-coated bar steel, providing a sleek and durable base. The legs are finished with rubber furniture caps for added stability and protection of your floor. The upholstery consists of a beautiful, sturdy soft red faux leather, which is in good used condition with no holes or tears.
Some history:
After a disagreement with the shareholders of his own furniture factory, Willem Gispen decided to go his own way and founded Kembo, which stands for "Kom Eerst Maar Bij Ons." His goal was to design even better chairs than those from Gispen's stable, and he certainly succeeded. The 302, W.H. Gispen's first design for Kembo, immediately won prizes at the Italian Triennial in 1954 and is therefore also known as the Gispen/Kembo Triennial.
The upholstery of this armchair has been carefully cleaned, and the metal frame has been degreased and polished with metal wax, making it ready for immediate use.
