This original highboard from the 1960s consists of two components and has a high-quality finish. Birch veneer was used for the fronts and sapele veneer (African tree, belongs to the mahogany family) for the body. The fronts are also polished. Four keys are included. The top element has a display cabinet in the middle with two sliding glass doors. The display cabinet has two glass shelves. There is storage space behind the right and left hinged doors, each of which is divided by two glass shelves. The lower element consists of a left and right hinged door and a central double door. Two drawers are fitted on the left. A little history: This living room cabinet with the name "Model V" saw the light of day in December 1964 in the GDR. It was produced by VEB (Volkseigener Betrieb) Möbelwerkstätten Olbersdorf at the foot of the Zittau Mountains in Saxony. Size: 186 cm x 54 cm x 151 cm (width x depth x height) The lower element ends at a height of 61 cm.
Condition:
The piece of furniture is basically stable, functional and has no damage. Signs of use are present. The lid of the upper part has discoloration and two glass inserts have small defects.
Reconditioning:
Light restoration work has been carried out. We clean and treat the wooden surfaces intensively with specially purified linseed oil in combination with an odorless and residue-free hydrocarbon solvent. This method is recommended by restorers.
