Made in Norway in 1966, Jens Nielson made this chair from rosewood-stained laminated beech. The Laminex chair consists of two cleverly fitted panels that can be easily disassembled and reassembled, providing a comfortable seat with a unique and elegant sculptural design.Jen Nielson was Danish, born in 1937, and although there is not much information about him, there is no doubt that the 'Laminex' chair is an outstanding achievement. The furniture company Westnofa was the most successful in Norway at the time, and the name comes from a combination of West Norway Factories and Westnofa. The company was founded in the late 1950s by a group of leading furniture manufacturers. The goal was to pool resources to market and export locally made furniture around the world.In the 1960s and 1970s, many designers worked with Wesnofa to create attractive and desirable furniture lines using highly curved laminated wood. The furniture could easily be flat packed and shipped at minimal cost to discerning buyers around the world.
