Product description
The timeless, elegant and unobtrusive design of the dining table and chairs from the 1960s was created by Henry Walter Klein, who designed many successful pieces of designer furniture for the Danish manufacturer Bramin. Bramin stands for good design and high manufacturing quality with a focus on functionality, simplicity and warmth. The slimmer frames on the long and short sides towards the middle of the table in conjunction with the integrated table top and rounded corners, together with the round table legs that taper downwards, convey a sense of lightness and harmony, to which the light oak finish also contributes. The functionality of the table is ensured by the legs positioned directly under the table corners, which allows comfortable spacing for chairs, as well as its easy extension by means of an insert plate, which is placed under the table top. This means that eight and, with restrictions, even ten people can be seated. The screwed-in table legs can be removed without tools, making it much easier to transport the table. The chairs form a harmonious unit with the table thanks to their elegant, seemingly light yet functional and comfortable design. With the slightly outwardly curved frames of the seat frame and the round, conically shaped chair legs as well as the rounded backrest, their design ideally matches the design of the table. The foam-padded seat, covered with brown upholstery fabric (linen look), is designed as an insert seat and can be easily removed from the seat frame, making it much easier to transport the chair frames and replace the upholstery and fabric covers, for example. Both the table and chairs were purchased brand new in 1985 and were in use until 2022. During this time, the light oak solid wood has taken on a warm, honey-colored hue, while the original color of the veneered table top has been largely preserved by the underlay and tablecloth. The table and chairs are in good vintage condition with minor signs of wear. The surfaces are in their original condition without subsequent varnishing. Due to the varying effects of sunlight, the honey-colored "patina" of the originally yellow wood is more or less pronounced. This is normal and is part of the charm of this vintage furniture.
Table:
Condition: good, few small traces of use due to age. The table top was usually protected with a carpet pad and tablecloth.
A small chip (approx. 20 x 3 mm) on one of the two table top halves can be seen in photos 5 and 9. Hardly recognizable are some very small scratches.
Chairs:
Condition: good, few small defects.
The chair with armrests has two repairs to the backrest (see photo 20).
Upholstery corresponding to the period of use, upholstery fabric in surprisingly good condition considering the period of use.
