Vintage Danish modular wall system designed by Kai Kristiansen for Feldballes Møbelfabrik. Kai Kristiansen (born 1929) is a Danish furniture designer known for his elegant and functional designs from the Mid - Century modern period. He was trained by Kaare Klint and developed a style characterized by clean lines, high-quality materials and a strong emphasis on modularity.
In the late 1960s and 1970s, Kristiansen designed an updated version of the FM Reolsystem, a modular wall system with metal wall slats, for FM Møbler. This system offered a flexible layout in which shelves and cabinets could easily be inserted and rearranged in the metal rails. The metal wall slats provided additional strength and a more modern, industrial look. Because the wall slats here are white, they hardly stand out and emphasize the system.
The system was made of high-quality woods such as teak, oak and rosewood and featured refined finishes. The cabinets often had sliding doors with subtle handles or cutouts, while the rounded corners and clean lines made the design timeless.
Thanks to its modular design and durable materials, the FM Reolsystem is still loved by collectors and lovers of Scandinavian design. The system consists of 1 drawer unit which can serve as a desk, 3 wall slats and 8 wall shelves.
