Gunnar Nielsen Tibergaard was a Danish designer, born in 1925, known for his contributions in the fields of furniture and lighting. He worked for several design companies, including the famous furniture company Fritz Hansen. Tibergaard studied "design" at the Copenhagen School of Art and Design and began his career with several design companies in Denmark. His designs are characterized by their elegant simplicity, functionality and attention to detail. He often used natural materials such as wood and leather, and his designs were widely recognized for their craftsmanship and durability. Tibergaard has received several awards for his work, including the Gold Medal from the Royal Danish Industrial Design Association. His designs can also be found in the permanent collections of several art and design museums, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Museum of Decorative Arts in Copenhagen.
