Silver-plated Coquillor (butter press or butter mold). Consists of 2 parts: a bowl with lid and an upper part that presses and forms the butter rolls. A kitchen tool designed to make decorative shapes. It is a perfect piece to add a touch of sophistication and a surprise effect. Coquillor was popular in France in the 60s and 70s. Today it is an extremely rare and hard to find. Soft butter is placed on the bottom of the butter mold (butter dish) and by pressing on the grid, butter shells are made into different shapes. The butter must then be cooled in the butter dish before serving.
