He was a Swedish designer and painter specializing in glass, textiles and ceramics. He is considered a pioneer of Swedish glass art. His works were included in the art competitions of the Summer Olympics in 1932 and 1936. In 1950 he joined Kosta Glasbruk as art director. He was the dominant designer there, giving his name to many of today's classic designs. He introduced a whole range of colours into his designs, resulting in iconic models. Together with the sculptor Edvin Öhrström, he developed the new Ariel technique.
Kosta Glasbruk, later known as Kosta Boda, was a Swedish glass company founded by two officers in the army of Charles XII, Anders Koskull and Stage Bogislaus von Holstein in 1742.
