Historical note: Gramann, also known as Töpferei Römhild, was an East German company with roots in southern Thuringia. In the 1970s, Römhild became the capital of pottery. The largest pottery company in Europe (Töpferhof Gramann) was opened and international pottery symposiums were organized from 1975, the tradition of which was renewed in 2008. Most of the work was done by hand. Gramann was the precursor of the volcanic glazes later known as fat lava.
