Product description
Beautiful vase model 'Mulette' by Val Saint Lambert. The design of this vase in modern mid-century style is by René Delvenne. The vase is unfortunately chipped, still bears a large part of the original Val Saint Lambert sticker.
René Delvenne started working for Val Saint Lambert in the 1950s. During that period, he caused a change in house style. From the usual style of classically cut vases in doubled crystal, the art-deco style and the taillé riche, he goes to an organic, modern, mid-century style in sommerso technique. The sommerso technique was perfected by Delvenne during this period and consists of mixing clear and colored crystal during blowing, so this difficult blowing technique could only be performed by experienced master glassblowers.
This style and way of working was strongly influenced by the Venice (Murano) glassblowers Guido and Antonio Bon. They entered the company a few years earlier. Delvenne in turn inspired the well-known glass artist Louis Leloup, who continued to build on the élan and oeuvre of Delvenne and the Bon brothers.
Delvenne's work reached its peak in the 1950s, especially in the catalog of 56 and 57. This was followed by an extensive exhibition at the 1958 world exhibition in Brussels.
Unfortunately there is a chip on the back. See picture
