Antique trompe l'oeil, small centerpiece, in hand-painted glazed ceramic, made in Italy. Featuring a small white basket filled with 9 pyramid-shaped garlic cloves in shades of white, dark pink and yellow/cream, adorned with green leaves. Approx. 18cm high, with a diameter of approx. 15cm at its widest. Good condition, with numerous small dings and chips, all relatively unobtrusive, one a little more visible on one of the leaves, a few more marked on the basket... Ceramic globe inside the basket "opened" by a large crack, but this is a firing crack, it's not visible. A very pretty old bucolic piece that smells of the Italian countryside. Approx. 2kg.
