Product description
A rare beauty: this rosewood desk by Danish designers Torben Valeur & Henning Jensen for furniture manufacturer Dyrlund in Denmark. Period: 1960-1969.
Dyrlund was/is specialized in handmade high-end furniture for home and (executive) office. This is a freestanding desk that can be placed against or separate from a wall.
What we like about the design are the wooden rectangular 'supports' on which the desk rests. The desk consists of two modules each with three drawers with an open compartment at the front for books and magazines. Subtle is the raised edge at the front of the desk.
Rosewood/rosewood has now become a rare tropical wood species that now requires certification to use (CITES certificate). At the time this furniture was manufactured, having to possess this certificate was not an issue.
The desk has a tremendously chic look and deserves a beautiful place in your office, store or home. Set it free in a room with a matching desk chair and "a picture is born.
The condition of the desk: front, top, back and both supports are in pristine condition. Both sides idem; only one piece of rosewood on one side has been inserted by a German furniture maker in 2017 that does not quite match the rest of the desk in terms of color (see last photo)
For transportation, both wooden supports can be easily unscrewed from the desk.
Dimensions: W = 155 cm, D = 75 cm, H = 71 cm.
Small inset piece on corner/back.
