Product description
Jack is the original "sit, light, stack thing," an award-winning multifunctional object that was one of Tom's first experiments with plastic. Tom Dixon says, "I'm sure most designers can see the magic of mathematics and geometry. There is a satisfying completeness and logic in polyhedra, and the more you learn about them, the more universal and complex they become. There is a purity about shapes known as platonic bodies, and when you learn to recognize them, they appear in everything - nature, crystals, seed pods, black magic, Islamic architecture, you name it." Product Description Contemporary design by Tom Dixon, rare model and hard to find. It is a lamp sturdy enough to sit on and light enough to carry. Jack looks more like a Japanese concrete sea wall or a model of a molecule with a cozy and cheerful personality. The manufacturing process is characterized by using centrifugal force and is called "rotational molding." In the rotating hollow and closed 5-piece mold, polyethylene spheres mixed with hot air are blown in and "beaten" evenly against the wall so that the thickness of the layer is the same everywhere. In the blowhole, after dismantling the mold, the fitting with the lamp is mounted. The result looks simple but is not comparable to any other object manufactured in a similar way. In addition to orange, Jack also came in cream, red, yellow and black, among others. Dimensions are 58 x 58 x 52cm.
