Product description
Tjalf Sparnaay (1954) is a Dutch artist and representative of hyperrealism or, as he calls it, megarealism. Sparnaay trained as a sports teacher but taught himself photography and painting in the early 1980s. In those early days the artist made realistic postcards to sell, but he soon focused on autonomous painting.
After visiting a pop art exhibition in New York and the associated hyperrealism, Sparnaay chose his final direction. Fried eggs, salads, hamburgers, lobster and crushed Coca Cola cans, depicted in enormous sizes, become his trademark. The artist is inspired by the works of art by 17th century masters such as the genre scenes of Vermeer, the chiaroscuro of Rembrandt and the still lifes of Willem Kalf.
This beautiful offset lithograph is in excellent condition and is hand signed by the artist. The colored and realistic print is a great starting point to create your own wall mosaic. Mix vintage artwork with posters, photos and contemporary artists. This way you can easily put together your own inspiration wall in your living room or office. In addition to current artists, our extensive collection also includes many historical graphics where you can put together a great wall mosaic in no time. Find used frames at a thrift store, decide on a centerpiece and look for a playful composition of colored next to black and white and historical, vintage and modern. Easy to expand or exchange.
