Tapio Veli Ilmari Wirkkala (1915–1985) was a Finnish designer and sculptor, an important figure of post-war design. Wirkkala designed many classics from 1956 for the German porcelain factory Rosenthal and Iittala. Some of his most famous objects came from Rosenthal's Studio-Linie series. They usually have organic shapes, single-colored surfaces and modern expression. Tapio's Studio-Line objects are made of cast porcelain.
