Product description
Jean-Luc Bertel Surrealist sculptures in wrought iron sometimes combined with glass. This is Sunkiss. The unique figure was created between hammer, fire and anvil. The 2 cm thick glass (albertini) was colored in the mass with natural oxides. Forging is a form of sculpting. The graceful legs carrying the sun bear witness to this. The materials and the technique used by the artist completely blend into the result. All of the sculptures have a high caressability factor, but are so layered that the viewer almost immediately seeks out the message and the relationship the viewer has with it.... Unique signed work from 2024. JLB received musical training at the Ghent Conservatory of Music after which he pursued a career as a horn player, conductor, composer and teacher. At the same time, his interest as a self-taught musician went to artisanal forging, first to restore or manufacture all kinds of ironwork in the old way. Later he discovered the possibilities of creating sculptures. After a meeting and short internship with Martin Granel, he discovered the combination of glass with iron. JLB exhibits regularly at the Garemyn Hall in Bruges. His work has also been shown at the Vlask gallery in Ghent.
