Sulho Vilhelmi Sipilä (Brändö, December 12, 1895 - Helsinki, December 22, 1949) was a Finnish painter, modernist and naval officer. He was also a gifted violinist. Sipilä's parents were Reverend Frans Vilho Sipilä and Mandi Matilda Piirainen. When the groom was small, the family moved from Åland to Mynämäki, Turku. There he graduated from high school in 1915 and initially studied theology, but gave it up and began painting at the Turku Art Society's drawing school at the age of 19.
