Rare bakelite table lamp with beautiful yellow-black coloring, 1960s Space Age design model Jr 2/2 by Krania East Germany. Dimensions: height max 20cm depth 20cm width: 9,5 cm cable length 150 cm Standard Edison E27 fiiting Fully functionally tested. In good vintage condition, with some scratches in the bakelite (see also photos for reference.) The lamp was made in the GDR / East Germany (Deutsche Demokratische Republik) and originally served as an infrared light therapy lamp, at the time equipped with a special heat lamp with an output of 250 W. On the base it says: Bestrahlungsdauer Max 15 min which means; Do not stay longer than 15 minutes in the radiation of the lamp. In the pictures the lamp has an 8w LED mirror light bulb, but any other standard bulb will do. On the bottom are some DDR quality marks. The quality rating system was used to indicate which goods were suitable for export (or delivery to military/government agencies) and which were for the domestic civilian market only. Even the export classes were divided into suitable for export to "socialist" and "non-socialist" countries. The first seal states that this desk lamp was made by Krania. The second with the number 1 means of good quality, suitable for export to non-socialist countries. The third sign with the square means that it is a grounded electrical product. The last sign indicates the composite material it is made of. Curiously, the name Bakelite was not allowed in the GDR.
