Product description
Very pretty little jar for oil, cider or other products, small size (1-2 liters), antique 19th-century stoneware, semi-glazed/glazed, made in France by Puisaye craftsmen. Chunky body, large short neck framed by 2 rounded handles, all 3 glazed in a dark khaki shade, thick glaze. Top of jar rough, light gray/terracotta stoneware, manufacturing defect at this point, hoop mark with varnish, rest of body glazed in shades of russet, rust, light khaki, beige, gray. Note that it has probably been varnished/glazed upside down, the glaze forming gouts on the top of the handles and the neck. Approx. 25cm total height, max. diameter 16-17cm. Very good overall condition, with a few relatively discreet flaws and age-related wear. Approx. 2kg.
