Product description
Designed by Carlo Scarpa for Simon Gavina with frame in brushed stainless steel held together with visible countersunk screws, Bologna, Italy, 1960. Glass table top 210x110, supported by the frame with rubber inserted in round brass supports. Made from a drawn metal frame, the piece is held together with visible polished screws and decorative brass inserts, with brushed satin surfaces lacquered with protective transparent sheen. As with many of his works, Scarpa evokes a floating feel by gently placing a glass tabletop above the frame. Good vintage condition with small chip to edge. Barely visible. No longer in production, only through auctions (rare). Appears in several museums. The Tulu dining chairs by Kazuhide Takahama were purchased with this table and need to be reupholstered. They are not included and are offered separately. Simon Gavina produced a collection of designs that are true design icons. "Ultrarazionale," of which the Sarpi table is a part, was a collection of sculptural works designed by Scarpa that were the result of carefully chosen materials combined with well-planned attention to detail and execution.
Use marks belonging to age of object (scratches). one tiny chip and one small chip to edge of table top. Barely visible. Used as a dining table by two adults, non-smoking, in dry environment.
