Guillaume Cornelis Beverloo, known as Corneille was born to Dutch parents in Liège. He was one of the founders and also one of the main representatives of the Cobra movement. Corneille was extremely productive during his career, resulting in an enormous amount of paintings, sculptures and graphics. Corneille worked abstractly, but from around 1960 he works figuratively. Well-known motifs are birds, women, and flowers.
