Product description
Two beautiful rare wall shelves designed by visual artist Constant Nieuwenhuijs and produced by Asmeta. Constant published a volume for spatial colorism, exploring space vs color in response to the passive role color plays in modern architecture. His vision was exhibited at the 1954 Color Harmony in Your Home event at De Bijenkorf in Amsterdam.
This shelf was part of this exhibition that Constant shaped together with Gerrit Rietveld. It is quite rare to find one, let alone two. We have a large 80-cm version in yellow that still has its original lacquer, but which does show signs of use. We also have a somewhat smaller model in gray, of 41 cm width, which has been repainted once but is still in very good condition.
Condition: Good vintage condition with obvious signs of use, see photos.
