"If we were only functionalists, we would still be sitting on stones". André Dubreuil nevertheless rejected the label "designer", but rejected the idea that form was above function. His passion was to attract and hold people's attention - something he achieved with his outwardly sculptural chairs. Although his works fulfill their function very well, Dubreuil intentionally obscured their purpose to create pieces that delight the viewer - such as his 1986 Spine chair. Arabesque lines bring form to his work, structuring the slender, curved metal frames of tables and chair legs almost like lace. It is art that resembles furniture. The armchairs are in very good condition. However, vintage items may show some slight signs of wear such as unobtrusive scratches and other signs of time.
