About the artist
Hans Wap always creates his sculptures in a certain order. First, Wap paints an abstract image. Then he adds human figures to the composition. The figures in the paintings are somewhat more pronounced than before. In fact, the abstract image has become autonomous. The use of coincidence cannot be called a coincidence. After the human figure is added, a landscape is created; the abstraction has become figuration.
In many of Hans Wap's paintings and prints, a man figures "as anonymous as the figurative sign that admonishes the pedestrian to stop at a red light and only cross the road at green. This figure is a homo universalis that everyone can understand, a beacon of order and calm in a hectic world. With Hans Wap, however, he is a model for the restless seeker who barely understands his urge to act, but who is afflicted with the urge to survive until death catches up with him. (Hans Wap, "Stills," text by H. van Leeuwen).
Painting is in very good condition. There are a few small spots on the wooden frame.
