Product description
Scientific Teachers Molecular Model, England, 1950s
Extra large and therefore rare model ( 81 cm ) of the molecular structure of Bismuth Telluride made as an educational aid for classroom or exhibit. The complex structure is formed from colored wooden balls representing atoms connected by metal rods. It has gold and silver balls. The atoms as can be seen have wear and patination which only adds character to this lovely piece. As can be seen in the pics it can also be hung simply by adding some fishline.
An ivoroid label is attached to one of the rods, with the printed name and location of the British manufacturer of the specimen (“CSL, Bottisham, Cambridge, England”) and identifying it in hand writing as Bismuth Telluride. (Bi2Te3) is a gray powder that is a compound of bismuth and tellurium also known as bismuth(III) Telluride, it is a semiconductor.
Good — This vintage/antique item may have some wear such as scratches and other signs of ageing.
