Schuitema en Zonen has been making designer furniture of very high quality since 1993. They are best known for their furniture line in the style: Art Nouveau, also called Jugendstil. This style is very nicely reflected in this dining table set. The base of this table reflects the typical Art Nouveau style through its graceful, organically curved legs and flowing lines, using artisanal Japanese woodworking as inspiration, characterized by their elegant construction without screws or nails. This style is beautifully reflected in the frame of the chairs as well, with natural, undulating shapes and refined, hand-carved wooden details derived from stylized plant motifs, subtly reflecting the harmony between craft and nature. The warm, deep hue of the solid oak highlights the natural elegance of the set. The subtle sheen of the lacquer coating protects the wood and enhances the luxurious look.
The special feature of this particular set is that it comes complete with all the accessories available (at the time). The rarest piece of these is the extension piece that extends the table top lengthwise by about 40 cm. Both the table and chairs can still be obtained second-hand, but of the extension part have not come across any more advertisements.
