Product description
This is a beautiful vintage Rotaflex pendant lamp from the 1960s.
It is a minimalist pendant lamp made of plastic.
The symmetrical fixture housing is made of translucent plastic (Rotaflex) and has a grooved texture all around.
Due to its unusual materiality, this fixture acts as an elegant object both switched on and off.
Rotaflex was founded in 1953 with Bernard Stern at its head, who took the company to the top of Britain's lighting industry in just a few years.
The company won several designer awards during this time. Heifetz Manufacturing Company (founded by Yasha Heifetz New York) is the American brand that sold these lamps in the U.S. under the name Heifetz Rotaflex.
These types of lamps belong to the history of lighting design and are rare objects. The designation Rotaflex denotes their innovation used: wrapping with
cellulose acetate material (first forms of plexi). Because of this, these lamps were often thought to be made of glass until one
held.
These lamps are very beautiful because of their simplicity. Fit nicely into a modern interior with objects from the same period. The lamp is in top condition despite its age.
