A variety of finish combinations gives the light a vaguely postmodern feel that echoes the Memphis movement. However, the Tennessee town, known as Bluff City, was the inspiration for the series. Jonah Takagi's Bluff City, for the well-known designer brand Roll & Hill, combines a traditional hanging shade with a wire cage to create an industrial-inspired but sophisticated pendant. Tokyo-born and raised in New England Takagi designed the lamp with a powder-coated metal surround and includes a copper-plated fitting. A variety of finish combinations gives the light a vaguely postmodern feel that reflects the Memphis movement. In particular, the city of Tennessee, known as Bluff City. The style is therefore associated with postmodernism where Takagi took inspiration from pop art and art deco. It is therefore characterized by bright colors with distinct combinations, kitschy styling, powerful geometric form and asymmetry.
