BIOGRAPHY OF ROELOF HOFMAN At a young age, Roelof Hofman became fascinated with drawing and painting. From the age of eight he worked seriously on his technique and style. Eight years later he was apprenticed to the Rotterdam painter Cornelis Witters. He began with drawing, but soon switched to painting. In his early years he painted mostly in the classical style, in his later life Roelof Hofman became more devoted to surrealism and magical realism. Roelof Hofman continues to experiment with new techniques. In his vision, one of the most important elements is the use of color in a painting. This is the first thing that people react to instinctively, and color is therefore evident in his paintings. Hofman can regularly be found in France. There he retreats to the countryside to enjoy the tranquility and thereby gain new ideas. His work has earned him many awards in addition to numerous exhibitions.
