Rik van Iersel is self-taught. He has a series of exhibitions behind him, each with unique catalogues. Van Iersel is very curious about materials, media and life itself. At the age of eighteen, he designed posters for pop concerts at the Effenaar. He draws comics, plays the drums in Der Junge Hund and makes his first large, colorful expressionist paintings. “Nothing is mine, everything comes from something or someone” are words by Rik van Iersel that illustrate his fascination for the world around him and he expresses this fascination in his work.
