Product description
Richard Smeets (Gennep 1955) attended the art academy in Maastricht. Since the eighties his work can be described as lyrical-abstract. In his own words, his work comes about in three phases. The basis is an experience, a memory, which the painter then materializes in paint and color. Richard Smeets makes little use of sketches, but works from the impressions he has in his memory. In his early work we see female nudes, later landscapes, flowers (especially roses) and abstract representations emerge. The silkscreen you see here is framed and hand-signed by the artist.
You can come see the work in advance at the Rotor Gallery's treasury in Gorinchem or pick it up after purchase. Sales are via the Whoppah platform. We can do the framing work for you if desired.
