Ricardo Bofill (Barcelona, 1939) is among the best known and most successful representatives of postmodernism. He garnered both fame and scorn with his amalgamations of classical forms and modern construction techniques. With the Taller de Arquitectura in the 1960s and 1970s, Bofill realized a number of projects that, at least visually, showed affinities with more or less simultaneous structures such as Moshe Safdie's Habitat '67 and the structuralist buildings of Aldo van Eyck and Herman Hertzberger.
