Product description
One of Germany's finest draftsmen, Reiner Schwarz (Berlin, 1940) expressed the many emotions and expressions of the human face in his drawings in an unparalleled way. He described his works on paper as "moments of silence." In 1960, he began his art studies at the Hochschule der Künste with the surrealist Mac Zimmermann. Initially, then, he worked surrealist. In 1977, he won the international Senefelder Prize. See: www.senefelderstiftung.de/de/der-preis/galerie. Among the numerous exhibitions and awards he received thereafter was the 1979 Silesian Cultural Prize of Lower Saxony. At the time, critics called him a "human painter" - and in fact the focus of each work was the human face as a mirror of feelings, joy and fear, being hurt by the inadequacy of this world. The work we offer here was published in 1971 by the Berlin gallery Brusberg. It was included in the catalogue raisonné Völker, no. 72. It is signed in pencil, numbered (53/100) and titled ('Er ist tot'). At the bottom it also reads: 'Hommage à Albrecht Dürer'. The sheet is in perfect condition. Dimensions: 60 x 42 cm (leaf), 28 x 21 cm (image). Shipping in reusable roll only within the E.C. Shipping costs (with track and trace): within Belgium: 14 €; to the Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg or France: 22 €; to all other E.C. countries: 40 €.
