Product description
Beautiful mid-century modern orange handmade fat-lava pottery ashtray by Jaap Ravelli in excellent condition. Jaap Ravelli (1916–2011) was a Dutch ceramist known for his distinctive mid-century pottery. He gained popularity for his studio's work in the 1950s and 1960s, producing modern, minimalist ceramics often characterized by matte glazes and organic shapes. Ravelli’s designs typically feature simple, clean lines and are influenced by Scandinavian design trends of the period, but with a unique Dutch twist. His pieces, mostly vases, bowls, and plates, often feature muted tones like browns, whites, and grays, with occasional bold use of color. Ravelli operated his own pottery studio, Ravelli Keramiek, which he founded in 1944 and ran for several decades. Though it closed in the 1970s, his work remains highly regarded in the world of ceramics and vintage design. - Dimensions: Diameter 13, Height 4 cm. - Made in Holland.
