These oriental rugs are hand-knotted in northeastern Iran and often feature large central and geometric medallions The Heriz rug is a type of Persian carpet. It is knotted in some thirty villages scattered to the east of Tabriz, including Heriz, Merivan, Georavan and Bakhshaih. These carpets belong to the Tabriz carpet family, but their particular execution means that they must be classified separately.
